Mass Motion Dance (MMD) offers high quality dance education, to students of all ages and abilities. Founded in Sturbridge, Massachusetts in 1983, under the direction of Terri Gordon, Mass Motion has proven its excellence in dance training. In 2003 Mass Motion Dance was proud to announce the opening of a Boston Location in Brighton. In 2017 Mass Motion Dance opened it’s third location in Medfield, MA.
The faculty is committed to a tradition of insuring quality, professional dance training in a positive learning environment. Instructor biographies can be found on the faculty page of this website. Our instructors have a diverse background of dance training and many are also Massachusetts teacher certified.
Mass Motion is home to The Dance Project in our Boston Location and The Dance Ensemble in our Sturbridge Location, pre-professional teen performance companies. The Dance Ensemble and The Project offer dedicated students who would like to pursue a career in dance, the opportunity to experience professional level training and additional performance opportunities and training with guest artists throughout the year.
All locations offer beginner through pre-professional level classes, for children ages two and a half through adult, September through June. Many dancers who have studied at Mass Motion Dance have continued on to professional careers in several different dance industries. All have left with a life-long love for the arts.
In addition to regular dance classes , the studio also holds master classes, workshops and has a variety of summer dance camps. Studio space can be reserved for dance rehearsals, birthday parties or other events.
